Lincoln Park Course
Milwaukee, WI, USA

Lincoln Park Golf Course occupies a compact parcel in Milwaukee's Lincoln Park neighborhood, roughly two miles north of downtown. Designed by Tom Bendelow and opened in the 1920s, it represents the prolific architect's characteristic municipal work—straightforward layouts built to accommodate public play on modest budgets and constrained urban land. Bendelow, who laid out hundreds of courses across the Midwest during the early twentieth century, typically routed courses that made efficient use of available terrain while remaining accessible to everyday golfers. The course plays as a par-71 layout of moderate length, fitting within the boundaries of the surrounding residential streets and parkland. The routing navigates gently rolling terrain with mature trees lining many fairways, typical of established urban courses in the upper Midwest. Several holes run parallel to one another, a common feature of Bendelow's space-efficient designs. The property lacks dramatic elevation changes or water features, relying instead on strategic bunkering and tree placement to define holes and challenge approach shots. As one of Milwaukee's historic municipal facilities, Lincoln Park serves a diverse local population and maintains the accessible, no-frills character of Depression-era public golf. The course provides a walkable round within city limits, appealing to neighborhood regulars and those seeking an affordable option near downtown. Its tree-lined fairways and compact routing reflect both the constraints of urban parkland golf and the enduring utility of Bendelow's practical design approach.
