LEGACY CLUB AT ALAQUA LAKES
🇺🇸 Longwood, FL, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio

Alaqua Lakes is central Florida golf at its most thoughtful, a private enclave where challenge and camaraderie walk hand in hand, more so than championship accolades. Carved into the rolling hills of Longwood, just north of Orlando, the parkland layout evokes a sense of established tradition rather than groundbreaking innovation.
Designed by the esteemed Joe Lee during the late 1980s, the course presents a strategic test, rewarding thoughtful play rather than raw power. Wide fairways often lull golfers into a false sense of security, only to reveal subtly contoured greens guarded by strategically placed bunkers and water hazards. The course is known to favor players who can work the ball, with doglegs that reward a well-placed draw or fade. While not a demanding walking course, it’s one that demands to be surveyed carefully, from tee to green.
The Alaqua Lakes membership is a vibrant mix of families and professionals, drawn together by a shared love of the game and a desire for a close-knit community. Stories of friendly rivalries on the course and lively post-round gatherings in the clubhouse abound. Though it remains private, the club is also known for its dedication to supporting junior golf initiatives in the surrounding community.
