LEDGEROCK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Mohnton, PA, USA
Designed by Rees Jones
LedgeRock Golf Club sits in Mohnton, a small community in Berks County, Pennsylvania, roughly ten miles southeast of Reading. Designed by Rees Jones and opened in the late 1990s, the course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Pennsylvania piedmont, where exposed rock outcroppings and elevation changes provide natural definition to the routing. Jones, known for his work on U.S. Open venues and for modernizing classic championship courses, brought his trademark emphasis on strategic bunkering and demanding green complexes to this daily-fee facility.
The layout takes advantage of the property's ledge rock formations, which appear throughout the round and give the course its name. Fairways move across varied topography, with several holes playing uphill or downhill and others routed through wooded corridors. Water comes into play on multiple holes, and the greens feature the kind of contour and subtle breaks that require careful reading. Jones incorporated forced carries and well-placed hazards that reward accuracy over distance, a hallmark of his design philosophy.
LedgeRock serves the greater Reading area as an accessible public course with a reputation for conditioning and challenge. The clubhouse offers standard amenities and the course hosts local tournaments and outings throughout the season. The combination of natural rock features, elevation variety, and Jones's strategic design gives the course a distinctive character within the region's public golf landscape.
