TREMBLANT RESORT
🇨🇦 Mont-Tremblant, Québec, CA
Designed by Dana Fry, Dr. Michael Hurdzan
Le Diable occupies dramatic terrain in the Laurentian Mountains at Tremblant Resort, roughly ninety miles northwest of Montreal. Designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry and opened in 1995, the course takes its name—"The Devil"—from the nearby Rivière du Diable, which winds through the property and figures prominently in the routing. The design navigates significant elevation changes and dense forest corridors typical of the region, with several holes playing along or across the river and others climbing through rock outcroppings and stands of hardwood and pine.
The layout presents a mix of strategic challenges shaped by the natural topography. Water hazards appear on roughly half the holes, and the routing makes frequent use of doglegs and elevated tee shots that require careful positioning. The par-three sixth hole plays downhill across a corner of the river to a green framed by rock and water, while the closing stretch includes a demanding par-five eighteenth that returns toward the clubhouse with the river guarding the left side of the fairway and green.
Le Diable serves as one of two championship courses at Tremblant Resort, complementing the older Le Géant layout. The course operates as part of the resort's broader golf and ski destination, drawing visitors throughout the golf season who combine play with access to the village and mountain amenities. The Laurentian setting provides a distinct northern character, with fall foliage adding seasonal color to the forested mountain landscape.
