LAS SENDAS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Mesa, AZ, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Las Sendas Golf Club occupies elevated terrain in the foothills of the Usery Mountains on the eastern edge of Mesa, approximately twenty miles from downtown Phoenix. Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed the course in the mid-1990s, routing it through natural desert landscape characterized by saguaro cacti, rock outcroppings, and arroyos. The property sits at higher elevation than much of the Phoenix metropolitan area, providing views across the valley and toward surrounding mountain ranges.
The layout works with the existing topography rather than imposing dramatic earthwork on the desert floor. Jones incorporated the native vegetation and rock formations into the design, with fairways that move through corridors of Sonoran Desert flora. Elevation changes are frequent, and several holes play uphill or downhill with the natural contours. The course requires accurate placement off the tee, as the desert margins and waste areas come into play on many holes.
Las Sendas operates as part of a residential community and serves both members and daily-fee play. The clubhouse takes advantage of the elevated setting, and the facility includes practice areas and dining amenities typical of upscale desert golf properties. The course represents Jones's approach to desert design during a period when architects were increasingly focused on integrating golf holes into the natural landscape rather than clearing and reshaping it extensively.
Reviews
RTJ II desert golf. Fun course, tough driving course some tight landing areas. As with most desert golf miss the fairway and rough and your ball is likely gone. Nice views interesting holes. 18th hole seems kinda out of place from rest of course 16.5 holes of desert golf then 18 which is all water and grass. A very solid public option in Mesa/Phoenix area
