CLUB DE GOLF LAS RAMBLAS
🇪🇸 Orihuela, Comunidad Valenciana, ES
Designed by Pepe Gancedo
Las Ramblas occupies a distinctive inland site in the Orihuela municipality of the Valenciana region, roughly twenty kilometers from the Mediterranean coast. Designed by Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo and opened in the late 1990s, the course takes its name from the dry riverbeds—ramblas—that characterize the local topography. Gancedo routed the layout through gently rolling terrain marked by these natural drainage channels, incorporating them as strategic hazards and visual features throughout the design. The setting blends Mediterranean vegetation with stands of palm and pine, creating a landscape that reflects the region's semi-arid climate.
The routing makes consistent use of elevation change and the rambla features, which cross several fairways and frame greens at various points in the round. Gancedo's design philosophy emphasizes strategic options from the tee, with multiple lines of play available to golfers willing to challenge carries or negotiate angles. The greens are moderately contoured and often elevated, demanding precision on approach shots. Water comes into play on a handful of holes, complementing the natural rambla hazards.
Las Ramblas serves as the centerpiece of a residential golf community that developed around the course. The club attracts a mix of local members and visiting golfers drawn to the Costa Blanca region, which has become a significant golf destination within Spain. The course operates year-round, benefiting from the area's mild winters and extended playing season.
