MISSION INN RESORT
🇺🇸 Howey-in-the-Hills, FL, USA
Designed by Gary Koch
Las Colinas, a centerpiece of the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, bears the distinction of weaving through the rolling hills of Central Florida's citrus country—a stark contrast to the state's typically flat landscape. Its design, a modified links-style layout, favors strategic play over sheer power. This is a course that rewards thoughtful approaches and deft touch around the greens, penalizing the wayward more readily than the merely aggressive.
Designed by Gary Koch, a six-time PGA Tour winner turned broadcaster, Las Colinas reflects a modern sensibility with a keen eye toward playability for golfers of all skill levels. While not a championship venue that’s regularly hosted nationally televised events, it has become a favorite among resort guests and local players alike. Its undulating fairways and cleverly placed bunkers demand careful consideration on every shot.
Beyond the course itself, Las Colinas is known for its social atmosphere, with a large percentage of its play coming from members and resort guests. Post-round gatherings are common on the patio overlooking the 18th green, often featuring the club's beloved cuban sandwich. It is a great complement to it’s brother course El Campeón.
Reviews
Mission Inn was a fun experience but this course is tight and very challenging. If you get out of position or if your ball is not in play this course will punish you. Fairways are super tight and the landing zones are very narrow. Even as a mid handicapper I found this an extremely challenging course. Bring lots of balls if you can’t keep your ball in play off the tee. All that being said, the greens were in great shape and rolled well, and the course conditions were pretty good even after a lot of rain the previous day.
