NORTH RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Raleigh, NC, USA
Designed by George Cobb, John LaFoy

North Ridge Country Club's Lakes Course sits in Raleigh's northern suburbs, part of a facility that has served the area since the mid-1960s. George Cobb, a prolific Carolinas architect known for accessible, playable designs across the region, laid out the original routing. John LaFoy later contributed refinements to the course, continuing a pattern common among clubs that update their layouts to accommodate modern maintenance practices and evolving membership preferences.
The course takes its name from the water features that appear throughout the property, with ponds and small lakes influencing play on multiple holes. The terrain reflects the rolling Piedmont landscape typical of the Raleigh area—moderate elevation changes, stands of pine and hardwood, and enough movement to create variety in lies and approach angles. The routing works through wooded corridors and more open sections where water becomes the primary strategic element.
North Ridge operates as a semi-private club, balancing member play with outside access. The Lakes Course serves as one of two eighteen-hole layouts on the property, offering a traditional country club experience in a market where Raleigh's growth has steadily increased demand for golf. The facility includes practice areas and dining amenities common to clubs of this type and era, maintaining a role in the local golf community that extends beyond tournament play to regular member use and social functions.
Reviews
Very nice club overall. More water than the Oaks. A solid layout, great conditions. Could see being a member here being a great experience.
Lakes is great if you fade the ball, prefer the other course here at this great club. Great men’s bar hang after round.
