ISLETA EAGLE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Albuquerque, NM, USA
Designed by Bill Phillips
Isleta Eagle Golf Club sits on the Pueblo of Isleta lands south of Albuquerque, where the high desert landscape meets the cottonwood-lined Rio Grande valley. Designed by Bill Phillips and opened in the late 1990s, the facility features 27 holes divided into three nines—Lakes, Arroyo, and Mesa—that can be combined into three distinct 18-hole configurations. The Lakes/Arroyo combination pairs two contrasting environments that showcase the property's varied terrain.
The Lakes nine occupies lower ground closer to the river corridor, where water features come into play on several holes and mature cottonwoods provide definition and shade. The routing here tends toward parkland character unusual for the region, with ponds and wetland areas creating both strategic challenges and habitat for migratory birds. The Arroyo nine moves into more traditional desert terrain, where natural arroyos—dry washes carved by seasonal water flow—cross fairways and create dramatic elevation changes. Native grasses, chamisa, and scattered piñon frame holes that play across and along these geological features.
The course operates as part of the Pueblo of Isleta's gaming and hospitality enterprise, serving both resort guests and daily-fee players. Views extend west toward the volcanic escarpment and east toward the Sandia and Manzano mountains. The high-altitude setting, at roughly 4,900 feet, provides the ball flight characteristics common to Albuquerque golf, where distance plays differently than at sea level and the dry air demands attention to hydration and course conditions.
