LAEM CHABANG INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY CLUB
🇹🇭 Beung, Chonburi, TH
Designed by Jack Nicklaus
Laem Chabang International Country Club sits in Chonburi Province on Thailand's eastern seaboard, roughly an hour and a half from Bangkok. Jack Nicklaus designed the facility's two eighteen-hole courses, which opened in the early 1990s as part of the region's golf development boom. The Lake and Valley nines can be combined with the club's other nines to form different eighteen-hole configurations, with the Lake/Valley routing being one of the primary championship setups.
The Lake nine features water hazards on most holes, requiring precise approach play and strategic course management. Nicklaus incorporated the natural wetlands and created additional lakes to frame fairways and greens, making club selection and shot placement critical. The Valley nine moves through more undulating terrain with elevation changes that are notable by Thai standards, where relatively flat coastal plains dominate the landscape. Bunkering throughout reflects Nicklaus's design philosophy of visible hazards and multiple tee options to accommodate different skill levels.
The club has hosted professional events on the Asian Tour and Thai domestic circuits, serving as a tournament venue in a region that has become a significant golf destination for both local players and visitors from across Asia. The facility includes full practice amenities and clubhouse services typical of international-standard clubs in Thailand's resort corridor. The courses are maintained to year-round playing condition in the tropical climate, with Bermuda grass surfaces common to the region.
