LAKE BARKLEY "BOOTS RANDOLPH" GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Cadiz, KY, USA
Designed by Larry Packard

Lake Barkley Golf Course sits within Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in western Kentucky, positioned along the shores of Lake Barkley near Cadiz. Designed by Larry Packard and opened in the 1970s, the course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the region between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, two major reservoirs created by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The layout takes advantage of natural elevation changes and wooded corridors typical of Kentucky state park courses from this era.
The course is informally known as the "Boots Randolph" course, honoring the Nashville saxophonist who was associated with the facility. Packard, who designed numerous courses across the Southeast and Midwest during the 1960s and 1970s, routed the eighteen holes through a mix of open and tree-lined fairways with water coming into play on several holes given the proximity to the lake. The terrain provides natural movement and variety in hole presentation.
As a state park facility, Lake Barkley serves both resort guests and local golfers, offering accessible public play in a scenic setting. The course operates as part of Kentucky's state park golf system, which includes several layouts across the commonwealth. The surrounding area is known for outdoor recreation, with the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area nearby, making the course part of a broader destination for visitors to western Kentucky's lake country.
