KING KAMEHAMEHA GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Wailuku, HI, USA
Designed by Ted Robinson Jr., Ted Robinson Sr.

King Kamehameha Golf Club occupies hallowed ground, its clubhouse a mid-century modern marvel originally conceived as a residence for Elvis Presley, though he never occupied it. Carved into the slopes of the West Maui Mountains above Wailuku, the Bill Moorish design presents a dramatic golfing experience unlike any other in the Hawaiian Islands.
The course, reworked by Ted Robinson Jr., plays longer than its yardage suggests, with prevailing trade winds and elevation changes demanding strategic shot selection. Wide fairways belie the challenge of the undulating terrain, often leading to uneven lies and blind approaches. Its generous width is a siren song to the over confident. The greens, subtly contoured and consistently fast, reward thoughtful placement.
While not a frequent host of major championships, King Kamehameha Golf Club attracts a discerning membership drawn to its challenging layout and unique ambiance. It offers an elevated golfing experience, both literally and figuratively. Its central location and the fact that it overlooks both the north and south shores, create a truly unique playing experience.
