THE CLIFFS AT KEOWEE FALLS
🇺🇸 Salem, SC, USA
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Troy Vincent

The Cliffs at Keowee Falls features a Jack Nicklaus design that opened in the early 2000s as part of The Cliffs Communities portfolio in the South Carolina upcountry. Troy Vincent worked alongside Nicklaus on the project, which occupies rolling terrain in the Blue Ridge foothills near Lake Keowee. The course sits at elevations that provide long views across the surrounding mountains and valleys, characteristic of this northwestern corner of South Carolina where the landscape transitions from piedmont to mountain topography.
The routing makes use of significant elevation changes and natural rock outcroppings common to the region. Nicklaus incorporated the site's native hardwoods and streams into the design, with holes that move through forested corridors and across more open ridgeline sections. Several holes play along or across ravines, and the par threes take advantage of the elevation shifts to create variety in both distance and visual presentation. The course measures over 7,000 yards from the back tees with multiple teeing grounds to accommodate different skill levels.
The Cliffs at Keowee Falls operates as a private club within a residential community. The development includes homesites positioned around the golf course and throughout the property. The club offers amenities typical of upscale residential golf communities in the region, including dining facilities and recreational options beyond golf. The course serves primarily members and their guests, fitting into the broader network of Cliffs Communities properties scattered across the Carolinas mountain and lake country.
