KARSTEN CREEK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Stillwater, OK, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio

Karsten Creek is home to collegiate golf’s truest proving ground, where Stillwater’s wind-swept prairie merges with a demanding layout that has humbled the best young players in the game. Tom Fazio's modern design, carved into the rolling hills just west of Oklahoma State University, presents a bold, American links-style challenge. Fairways, seemingly generous from the tee, quickly tighten with strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens that punish indecision. A premium is placed on strategic ball-striking, as the course's natural features often dictate club selection and approach angles.
The course is named in honor of Karsten Solheim, the founder of PING and major benefactor to Oklahoma State University's golf program. Karsten Creek's prestige is deeply intertwined with the Cowboys' storied golf legacy, highlighted by hosting the NCAA Championships, a stage upon which future stars have often been forged and legends have been made.
Beyond the tournament spotlight, Karsten Creek fosters an atmosphere steeped in tradition. The clubhouse, a monument to collegiate golf excellence, stands as a testament to the program’s history. While membership is select and highly prized, the spirit of competition and camaraderie resonate throughout the club, bolstered by lore of legendary Cowboy coaches and players who have walked its fairways. A visit to Karsten Creek is a pilgrimage for any serious fan of college golf.
Reviews
This is my home course and has always been my escape from the hustle and bustle of life. I was as worried as anyone when they said they were going to do a complete overhaul of the golf course. After 2 years of waiting, Andrew Greens’s new take on the beautiful property is a unique experience that I would recommend for everyone. Is it difficult? Absolutely! It has been nicknamed the navy seals training grounds for the modern day golfer. Is it fun? Yes! The course can be played anywhere from around 5400 yards to 8200 yards. There are no tee markers. There is no par (par is an enigma). When we play, the winner of the previous hole gets to pick the tee spot and the par for the following hole. Every hole has unique demands for shots. Every green is an adventure based off of where you leave your approach. You can never take a shot off but it is so rewarding when you hit great shots! Averages 2 groups of golfers per day so next to no wear and tear on any part of the golf course. Greens, fairways and bunkers are already pristine. Native areas will keep growing in as this is the first season back open. It’s hard to think the original Karsten Creek could be improved upon, but the guests I have taken have all agreed it’s a better course.
