JUMPING BROOK COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Neptune, NJ, USA
Designed by Willard Wilkinson

Jumping Brook Country Club sits in Neptune, New Jersey, along the northern Jersey Shore corridor between Long Branch and Asbury Park. The course was designed by Willard Wilkinson, a regional architect active in the mid-twentieth century who worked primarily in the New York metropolitan area and contributed to the development of several private clubs across New Jersey during the post-war suburban expansion.
The property occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Monmouth County coastal plain, where modest elevation changes and natural drainage corridors shape the routing. The course name references the small stream that runs through the property, a feature that comes into play on several holes and adds strategic interest to the layout. Wilkinson's design reflects the practical, member-focused approach common to many clubs established during this era, emphasizing playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating enough challenge to hold the interest of accomplished players.
Jumping Brook functions as a traditional private country club serving the local community, with golf as the centerpiece of club life. The membership draws from Neptune and surrounding Shore communities, and the club maintains the social and recreational traditions typical of mid-century American country clubs. The course provides a straightforward test of golf without the severe length or penal features of championship venues, making it well-suited to regular member play and club competitions throughout the season.
Reviews
Man is this a frustrating golf course. It’s short and quirky as can be, which gives you plenty of chances to score, but even more chances to ask what was going on in the architecture of the property. Have fun navigating huge oddly placed slopes and poorly fitting doglegs, it can be a good time, just not for serious golf
