JOLLY HARBOUR BEACH RESORT MARINA & GOLF CLUB
🇦🇬 Jolly Harbour, Antigua, AG
Designed by Karl Litten
Jolly Harbour Golf Club occupies a coastal site on the western shore of Antigua, integrated within the Jolly Harbour resort and marina development. Designed by Karl Litten and opened in the late 1980s, the course represents one of the few full-length golf facilities in the Eastern Caribbean. The layout plays across relatively flat terrain characteristic of the island's western lowlands, with trade winds from the Atlantic providing the primary defense and influencing club selection throughout the round.
The routing incorporates several holes that run along or near the Caribbean Sea, offering views across the water toward the resort's marina and neighboring islands. Litten's design works with the natural vegetation of the area, including stands of palm trees and native scrub that frame fairways and define playing corridors. Water hazards appear on multiple holes, both as strategic features and for irrigation purposes in the tropical climate. The course layout accommodates golfers of varying abilities, with forward tees making the design accessible to resort guests while still presenting challenge from the back markers, particularly when the wind intensifies.
The facility serves both resort visitors and local membership, functioning as a centerpiece of the broader Jolly Harbour development. The course provides a year-round playing option in a region where golf infrastructure remains limited, and its proximity to the marina and beach amenities reflects the integrated resort character of the property.
