COLLETON RIVER PLANTATION CLUB
🇺🇸 Bluffton, SC, USA
Designed by Bruce Borland, Jack Nicklaus
The Jack Nicklaus Course at Colleton River Plantation is where Lowcountry tranquility meets a strategic examination of one's game. Built upon the expansive bluffs overlooking the Colleton River, this course, crafted in the modern era, showcases the Golden Bear's understanding of natural contours.
Nicklaus leverages the coastal terrain, routing holes through stands of mature pines and around brackish water marshes. While not exceedingly long, the course favors a thoughtful approach, rewarding precise iron play into well-guarded greens. Errant drives find trouble, but a well-struck ball is often met with an opportunity to score.
More than just a test of golf, the Nicklaus course and Colleton River are known for the club's active and convivial membership, where post-round gatherings often spill onto the clubhouse veranda. A shared appreciation for the region's Lowcountry heritage is central to the club's culture, a place where the rhythms of the South Carolina coast set the pace for life, both on and off the course.
