ANTHEM GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Anthem, AZ, USA
Designed by Greg Nash
Ironwood at Anthem Golf & Country Club is a Greg Nash design located in Anthem, a master-planned community in the high Sonoran Desert north of Phoenix. The course sits at approximately 2,300 feet elevation, offering cooler temperatures than the valley floor and views across the surrounding desert landscape toward distant mountain ranges. Nash, who has designed numerous courses throughout Arizona and the Southwest, routed Ironwood through natural desert terrain characterized by saguaro cacti, rock outcroppings, and native vegetation.
The layout incorporates the rolling topography of the high desert, with elevation changes that provide strategic interest and visual variety throughout the round. Fairways are defined by the contrast between maintained turf and preserved desert areas, requiring players to navigate both the natural landscape and Nash's bunkering. The design balances risk-reward opportunities with straightforward holes, accommodating a range of skill levels within the Anthem community.
Anthem Golf & Country Club serves as a centerpiece amenity for the residential development, which was established in the late 1990s. The club includes additional recreational facilities beyond golf, reflecting its role as a community gathering place. Ironwood operates alongside Persimmon, a second course at the property, giving members access to varied playing experiences within the same high-desert setting.
