CHAMPIONS GATE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 ChampionsGate, FL, USA
Designed by Greg Norman

The International Course at Champions Gate Golf Club opened in 2000 as part of a 36-hole facility designed by Greg Norman in the planned community of ChampionsGate, located roughly 10 miles south of Walt Disney World in central Florida. Norman created two distinct courses here—the International and the National—with the International intended to evoke the character of British links golf translated to the Florida landscape. The design features wide fairways, deep pot bunkers, and relatively open approaches that encourage ground-game options, contrasting with the target-golf style typical of many Florida resort courses.
The routing takes advantage of the property's gently rolling terrain, unusual for central Florida, with elevation changes that provide strategic interest and improved sightlines. Norman incorporated large, undulating greens and positioned bunkers to create visual intimidation and reward precise placement. The course stretches over 7,300 yards from the championship tees, though multiple tee options accommodate a range of skill levels. Water comes into play on several holes, but the design emphasizes width and angles rather than forced carries.
Champions Gate operates primarily as a resort and residential facility, serving guests of the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate and property owners within the development. The club has hosted various regional amateur events and serves as a practice facility for professional golfers, particularly international players preparing for the Florida swing of the PGA Tour. The International Course consistently appears in rankings of Florida's better resort layouts, recognized for offering strategic variety within the state's competitive golf market.
Reviews
Played it first off at 6:50. Got paired up with a young kid who was around scratch and his dad who was also a stick, so got to get a good competitive round in. Got rained out after 9 and had to chill in the clubhouse area for about an hour and they had no problem getting all the golfers back onto the course, and the wait was fine with some good food.
