INDIAN SUMMER GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Olympia, WA, USA
Designed by Peter L. H. Thompson, Michael Wolveridge

Indian Summer Golf & Country Club sits in Olympia, Washington, designed by Peter L. H. Thompson and Michael Wolveridge. The course occupies terrain characteristic of the southern Puget Sound region, where the landscape transitions between forested lowlands and open meadows. The routing takes advantage of the natural topography, incorporating elevation changes and native vegetation that frame the playing corridors.
Thompson, a Canadian architect who worked extensively in the Pacific Northwest during the latter decades of the twentieth century, often collaborated with Wolveridge on projects that emphasized strategic variety and playability across different skill levels. Their work at Indian Summer reflects this approach, with holes that reward thoughtful course management rather than relying solely on length or forced carries. The design incorporates the area's Douglas fir and cedar stands, along with wetland features that come into play on several holes.
The club serves the Olympia community as a private facility, providing a year-round golf option in a region where the maritime climate allows for extended playing seasons. The course conditions and maintenance standards reflect the membership's commitment to quality daily play. Indian Summer operates within the tradition of Pacific Northwest golf clubs that balance competitive golf with family-oriented amenities, though it maintains a lower profile than the region's more historically prominent clubs in Seattle and Tacoma.
Reviews
Semi private in Olympia. Winds through a housing tract and park area. Pretty good golf course lots of trees but room off the tee on all but a few holes. Good par 3 variety. Greens are a little slow and I wish the powerlines weren’t so prominent detracts from some views. Worth playing if in the area
