Iberostar Playa Paraiso Course
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, MX

Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club occupies a coastal site south of Playa del Carmen along Mexico's Caribbean shore in the Riviera Maya. P. B. Dye designed the course, which opened in the late 1990s as part of the Iberostar resort complex. The layout works with the region's characteristic flat limestone terrain and dense tropical vegetation, incorporating natural cenotes and mangrove areas into the routing. The proximity to the Caribbean provides ocean views from several holes, particularly those running nearest the coastline. The course measures approximately 6,900 yards from the back tees and plays as a par 72. Dye's design emphasizes strategic bunkering and uses the native jungle as a defining hazard along many fairways. Water features appear throughout, both in the form of natural wetlands and constructed hazards that reflect the area's high water table. The layout requires accuracy over distance, as the tropical growth quickly penalizes errant shots. Several holes play along or near the beach, offering distinctive seaside character uncommon in Mexican golf. The club operates within the Iberostar resort structure, serving primarily resort guests and visitors to the Playa del Carmen area. The facility includes practice areas and clubhouse amenities typical of resort golf properties. The course provides a tropical golf experience that contrasts with the desert layouts found elsewhere in Mexico, taking advantage of the Yucatan Peninsula's unique geography and vegetation.

Quite possibly the most immaculately maintained golf course I’ve ever played. Much like lots of Cancun itself, less direct water access than you’d expect - this isn’t a “views” course like you’d typically expect from a resort style. But it’s in perfect shape, the green as pure as anything and the fairways carpet. Definitely scoreable especially to start, while the back toughens up some and gets tight.
It was super hot but amazing views. A challenging course with super cool bunkers. Found some iguanas and cool animals along the way.
