HOLLYWOOD GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Deal, NJ, USA
Designed by Walter Travis

Hollywood Golf Club, a New Jersey fixture since its inception, stands as a testament to early American golf design amidst the backdrop of Deal's refined coastal community. Characterized by gently rolling terrain typical of the region, Hollywood presents a classic parkland-style layout. It's a fair test for golfers of all skill levels, with relatively forgiving fairways that give way to strategic bunkering around the greens, rewarding thoughtful approaches. While not overly long by modern standards, the course's charm lies in its subtle undulations and the ever-present coastal breeze that adds a layer of complexity to club selection.
Designed by the prolific Herbert Strong, the course bears the hallmarks of the Golden Age of golf architecture. Later, renovations by fellow architects have served to maintain the integrity of Strong's original vision while subtly enhancing playability for the modern game.
Hollywood is known for its tight-knit membership, drawing from the surrounding communities, and maintaining a vibrant social scene. While it may not boast the national profile of some of its more decorated neighbors, Hollywood offers a uniquely personal and traditional golfing experience. The club holds a deep connection with its members, fostering a welcoming atmosphere within its storied walls.

Such a fun golf course. Went by so fast due to the interesting / exciting routing. Gives you opportunities to hit fun golf shots.

Great day, super fun course. Have always wanted to play and was so happy to get the chance. Rained in morning but stopped right before we went out. You would have never known. New drainage system is surreal, not one bad hole on the entire course. Such a fun round. Back is harder than front.
Totally fun members course that I'd be happy playing all the time. Land isn't outstanding but Travis makes great use of what he has. Exceptionally bunkered.
Hollywood is the definition of a Northeast private club with a great membership and even better golf course. The course was designed by Walter Travis and could have the best set of greens/bunkers I've ever played. The course is pretty forgiving off the tee, but the undulating greens make for a long day if your speed is off. Quite simply, Hollywood is the type of course I could play every day and be happy.
Hollywood is a special experience. Not overly intimidating off the tee, but the Travis greens have some real bite. Need to be on the right tier/level or it’s game over. Really enjoyed this golf course!
Walter Travis has a case to be the most underrated architect in golf. The bunkering and green complexes were among the best I’ve ever played. Got out due to a charity auction, would love another opportunity to experience this place.
My childhood and current club-Great traditional track that plays firm and fast and backs up past 7000-if I’m being picky, once you play it hundreds of times it gets repetitive, but truly one of the best courses on the Jersey Shore and a great stop
