Hogan at The Trophy Club isn’t just a course named for a legend; it's a living tribute, subtly whispering echoes of Ben Hogan’s exacting standards with every tee shot. Carved into the rolling North Texas landscape of Trophy Club, the course, opened in 1998, has a modern parkland feel with Zoysia fairways and Bentgrass greens, offering a challenging yet fair test for golfers of all skill levels.
Designed by Scott Miller, the Hogan course presents a strategic layout where thoughtful course management is rewarded more than raw power, though length can still be an advantage on certain holes. The design strategically navigates the gently undulating terrain with water coming into play on a number of holes.
While the Hogan hasn't hosted major championships, it remains a solid fixture for competitive amateur golf in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, offering a stern test of skill to local talent. The club, known for its welcoming atmosphere, fosters a vibrant community, and the post-round patio is legendary for its lively banter and the celebrated "Trophy Club Burger," a local culinary indulgence.
Reviews
Kind of a dog track, but a well-maintained dog track. Got roped into playing here a few times with customers who lived nearby. There's nothing special about this place at all, it's actually kind of boring. But they'll tell you a milion times Ben Hogan designed the course (dubious) and I think the nearby high school is named after Byron Nelson, lol. The members (I think it's private or semi-private) are very warm and welcoming. Admirable vibe.
