Hiwan Golf Club, nestled in the foothills of Evergreen, Colorado, is defined by its untamed beauty and the convivial spirit of its membership. The course's design is a marriage of mid-century sensibilities and rugged mountain terrain. Think generous fairways guarded by towering pines, demanding strategic positioning more than sheer length. A renovation by Press Maxwell in the 1960s added subtle contours to the greens, rewarding thoughtful approaches and punishing the casual shot.
The course favors a strategic player who can shape shots, navigate doglegs, and handle the subtle elevation changes that define mountain golf. While Hiwan hasn't hosted major professional championships, it remains a beloved local test, showcasing the best of Colorado golf to its loyal membership. It is a challenge more about finesse and placement than raw power.
Hiwan remains true to its founding, serving as a retreat for those who value camaraderie and the pure joy of the game above all else. Members share a passion for the outdoors that extends beyond the course, and the club is an active supporter of local conservation efforts. The atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance, where stories are shared as easily as birdies are celebrated. The club embraces its unpretentious charm, content in its role as a cherished community hub, far from the clamor of global golf fame.
Reviews
Awesome very hilly
The bones of this course are phenomenal. If played firm and fast like I’ve heard it was in the 80’s and 90’s, it would be immaculate. Used to host the Colorado Open. Just a little rougher around the edges
