HAMILTON FARM GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Gladstone, NJ, USA
Designed by Dana Fry, Michael Hurdzen
Hamilton Farm Golf Club's Highlands course occupies rolling terrain in the Somerset Hills of northern New Jersey, an area known for its equestrian estates and preserved open space. Designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry and opened in the late 1990s, the course was built on property with a long agricultural history, and the routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and wooded corridors characteristic of the region's glacial topography.
The layout moves through varied terrain, with holes playing across hillsides, through valleys, and along ridgelines that provide views of the surrounding countryside. Hurdzan and Fry, known for their environmental sensitivity and strategic design approach, incorporated native grasses and naturalized areas into the course, creating a playing experience that emphasizes shot values and course management over forced carries. The design features generous fairway corridors but defends par through green complexes with subtle contours and well-placed bunkering.
Hamilton Farm operates as a private club and includes extensive equestrian facilities alongside its golf amenities, reflecting the property's heritage and the broader character of the Somerset Hills. The club maintains a family-oriented atmosphere, with members drawn from the surrounding communities in Morris and Somerset counties. The Highlands course serves as the primary championship layout, hosting member competitions and regional amateur events within the club's calendar.
Reviews
genuinely one of my favorite courses in NJ, they treat guests very well which is a huge plus.
Very cool course that starts in the trees for 3 holes before opening up the rest of the way. Very hilly course with some very cool views. Par 5 9th and Par 3 17th are the best holes in my opinion.
My best friend belongs here but this place is epic. Absolutely gorgeous track buried in Northern NJ. Jordan Spieth has an honorary membership here as do other famous athletes/golfers. Pretty darn close to perfect golf experience. If you know someone who belongs here I'd start paying it forward and doing their laundry and then cash in those favors for a magical round at "The Farm"
