GRAND GENEVA RESORT
🇺🇸 Lake Geneva, WI, USA
Designed by Bob Cupp, Bob Lohmann, Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye

The Highlands course at Grand Geneva, nestled in the rolling Wisconsin landscape near Lake Geneva, stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of strategic, risk-reward golf. Originally designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye in 1994, and later refined by Bob Cupp, The Highlands presents a stern but fair test. It caters to a modern audience, but also maintains the old-fashioned principles of course design.
Characterized by its dramatic elevation changes, meticulously sculpted bunkers, and undulating fairways, The Highlands demands thoughtful club selection and precise execution. The course favors players who can strategically navigate its doglegs and blind shots, rewarding calculated gambles and penalizing wayward drives. The challenge is substantial, but the setting is serene.
The Highlands is a popular destination for weekend getaways and corporate outings. While not on the championship circuit, the course holds a respected position in the region, known for its challenging layout and well-maintained conditions. The experience extends beyond the course itself, offering a complete resort atmosphere.
Reviews
More fun and thoughtful than the Brute, if less scenic. Also were doing work on the first few holes which definitely affected the condition of the course. But a fun, strategic golf course that you can hit a lot of different shots on.
If I had 10 rounds at Grand Geneva, I'd play here 7 times and The Brute 3 times. Much more playable and enjoyable course that is still challenging and in good condition.
