THE QUECHEE CLUB
🇺🇸 Quechee, VT, USA
Designed by Bill Robinson, Geoffrey Cornish

The Highland Course at The Quechee Club occupies rolling terrain in central Vermont's Upper Valley, designed by Geoffrey Cornish and Bill Robinson. Cornish, a prolific New England architect whose career spanned much of the twentieth century, brought his characteristic understanding of northeastern topography to this layout. The course works with the natural contours of the land, incorporating elevation changes and wooded corridors typical of Vermont golf.
The routing moves through a mix of open and tree-lined holes, with views across the surrounding Green Mountains when the canopy breaks. Fairways follow the property's natural ridges and valleys, and several holes require approach shots to greens set at different elevations from the landing areas. The design reflects the practical, playable style Cornish favored—strategic without excessive punishment, suitable for a range of skill levels while still presenting genuine challenges in club selection and course management.
The Quechee Club operates as a private four-season resort community along the Ottauquechee River. In addition to the Highland Course, the club offers a shorter nine-hole layout and amenities that support year-round recreation in a region known for both summer golf and winter sports. The course serves members and their guests in a setting that emphasizes the natural beauty of the Vermont landscape rather than tournament pedigree or national rankings.
