HIDDEN RIVER GOLF & CASTING CLUB
🇺🇸 Brutus, MI, USA
Designed by Bruce Matthews

Nestled in the glacial sculpted terrain of Northern Michigan, Hidden River Golf and Casting Club offers a serene escape defined by its challenging layout and sporting ambiance. The course, routed through a landscape of rolling hills and hardwood forests, presents a compelling test for golfers of all skill levels.
Designed by William Newcomb in 1995, Hidden River’s modern design eschews tricked-up features, favoring instead a naturalistic integration with the land. Wide fairways invite aggressive drives, but strategically placed bunkers and undulating greens demand thoughtful approaches. The course favors a strategic player, requiring careful club selection and an understanding of the subtle breaks on the greens. Many know the club for it's 18th, a memorable finishing hole that descends dramatically toward the clubhouse, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Beyond golf, Hidden River distinguishes itself with its dedicated casting facilities. Fly fishing enthusiasts find a haven here, with access to private stretches of the Maple River, known for its trout. The club’s commitment to both golf and angling creates a unique sporting environment, fostering a community of members who appreciate the outdoors and the camaraderie it inspires.
