Built in the mid 1960's, the relatively short and straightforward course rewards the smart player. The terrain favors accuracy over distance, with strategically placed hazards punishing errant shots. While not attributed to a particularly famous architect, the course is well known amongst local players for its tight fairways and fast greens and has been lovingly maintained by its members for decades. A challenging course for the low handicapper, and a fun outing for the higher handicap, the course can be a little tricky to navigate at first. Spy Ring's membership is as much a part of its identity as the course itself. Known for its tight-knit community, gaining access is often considered more about who you know than your handicap. While the club hasn't hosted nationally recognized tournaments, its annual club championship is fiercely contested. More importantly, the club remains a bastion of old-school golfing traditions. The club is also well known among its members for having some of the best clam chowder on Long Island and after a round, it's a club tradition for members to come off the course to enjoy it together.
