The course was designed by Christy O'Connor Jr., the Irish professional and course architect who established a significant portfolio across Ireland in the latter decades of the twentieth century. O'Connor Jr., nephew of the renowned Christy O'Connor Sr., brought a player's sensibility to his design work, emphasizing strategic variety and playability across different skill levels.

The layout moves through mature parkland characteristic of the Irish midlands, with established tree cover framing many holes and defining playing corridors.
