MARQUETTE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Marquette, MI, USA
Designed by Mike DeVries

Greywalls, carved into the rugged Marquette landscape, is a testament to the enduring allure of dramatic, visually striking golf. Hewn from exposed Precambrian bedrock near Lake Superior, the course eschews traditional classifications, defying any easy categorization as links, parkland, or anything in between. The result is dramatic golf.
Designed by Mike DeVries and opened in 2005, Greywalls is unapologetically bold. Wide fairways encourage aggressive play off the tee, though errant shots are swiftly punished by the unforgiving rock outcroppings and native fescue that define the course’s perimeter. The ever-present wind, a constant companion off Lake Superior, adds another layer of complexity, challenging golfers to adapt their strategies on every hole. Its routing and design characteristics are a striking departure from its sister course at Marquette Golf & Country Club, rendering the facility a true 36-hole destination of contrasting styles.
Greywalls is not known for hosting major championships, but it enjoys a strong reputation among discerning golfers who appreciate its unique character and the raw beauty of its Upper Peninsula setting. It's the kind of place where a well-struck shot reverberates with a satisfying thud against the ancient stone – a visceral reminder of golf played on nature's terms. And for those seeking respite after a challenging round, the club's convivial atmosphere and hearty fare – rumor has it the chili is something of a legend – provide the perfect setting to recount the day's triumphs and misadventures.
Reviews
This course is insanity. A little too insane. It’s like egg nog. I will drink it once a year. It will taste good and I’ll have my fill. A lot of fun, the quirk is just on another level.
Wonderful experience
Conditions are perfect and views are very nice. Extremely difficult don’t expect to shoot a good score
