GREY ROCK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Austin, TX, USA
Designed by Jay Morrish
Grey Rock, carved into the Texas Hill Country, carries the spirit of early Texas golf. The property, a former working ranch in the burgeoning Circle C community, provides a rolling landscape far removed from typical Austin topography, allowing for a unique and dramatic playing experience.
Designed by Jay Morrish in the late 1990s, Grey Rock is a modern take on parkland golf. Generous fairways give way to subtly contoured greens, rewarding strategic play over brute force. The course favors a right-to-left ball flight, subtly challenging even the most seasoned golfer, and its layout makes it walkable – a welcome reprieve from the Texas heat.
Grey Rock fosters a laid-back atmosphere reflective of its surrounding community. While not a championship venue, it's a popular choice for local tournaments and boasts a thriving men's and women's golf association, hosting numerous events throughout the year. A frequent haunt for University of Texas faculty and staff, expect spirited games and post-round debates on everything from course strategy to Longhorn football.
Reviews
Grey Rock used to be a semi private course until it was bought by the city of Austin about 7 years ago Ever since the course has been a public facility it gets way too much traffic and is no longer in the condition it used to be
Boring, but always seemed to tee it up here in high school.
