GREEN BAY COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Green Bay, WI, USA
Designed by Dick Nugent

Green Bay Country Club, a fixture of the city's west side since its founding in 1926, delivers a classic Midwestern golf experience where generations have matched their games against the deceptively challenging layout. Carved from the rolling terrain just south of the winding Duck Creek, the course presents a traditional parkland style, demanding strategic shot-making and careful navigation around mature trees that frame each hole. While not overly long by modern standards, subtle elevation changes and cleverly placed bunkers penalize errant shots, rewarding those who favor thoughtful course management over brute strength. The par 3's are notoriously difficult.
Originally designed by Dick Nugent, a disciple of Donald Ross, the course retains much of its early charm, with small, undulating greens that put a premium on precision putting. A significant renovation in the early 2000s subtly updated the course for the modern game, adding length to a few holes and improving drainage, without sacrificing the integrity of Nugent's original vision.
While Green Bay Country Club hasn't hosted any major professional tournaments, it remains a beloved venue for regional amateur events and local club competitions. It is a very private club with a very active and proud membership. The club has an active golf program and a social scene centered around its updated clubhouse and dining facilities, where the Friday night fish fry is a local legend, whispered to be among the best in the state.
