GOODYEAR GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Danville, VA, USA
Designed by Gene Hamm

Goodyear Golf Club whispers a history tied to the industrial boom of Danville, where rubber barons once walked its fairways. Carved from the rolling Virginia Piedmont, the course offers a classic parkland experience, demanding strategic shot-making across gently undulating terrain framed by mature hardwoods. Its generous fairways provide ample landing areas, but subtle elevation changes and deceptively placed bunkers penalize imprecision. Favoring a draw, the course presents a balanced challenge for players of all abilities, while rewarding thoughtful course management.
While its architect remains somewhat obscured in the annals of golf course design, Goodyear Golf Club has steadfastly served as a cherished haven for the community. More than just a recreational outlet, the club embodies a deep-rooted connection with the area’s industrial legacy.
Beyond the course itself, Goodyear is known locally as a gathering place for the region’s business community. Deals are quietly brokered over post-round beers, and the club’s annual member-guest tournament remains a highlight of the Danville social calendar, fostering camaraderie that extends far beyond the 18th green.
Reviews
Hidden Gem just outside of Danville. Must be able to shape and play the ball both ways.
Plays like a mountain course, and is also across the street from the tire plant. Good conditions, some interesting holes. Reasonably priced. A lot of fun.
