GLENEAGLES GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 San Francisco, CA, USA
Designed by Jack Fleming

Gleneagles, nestled in the heart of San Francisco's Sunnydale district, is a defiant testament to the enduring appeal of classic golf, built in the Golden Era. Its relatively flat terrain belies the subtle challenges woven into its design, rewarding strategic play rather than sheer power. Expect tight fairways demanding accurate tee shots; those favoring a fade will find their ball well placed on many of its doglegs.
Initially designed by the under-appreciated Sam Whiting, its modest renovations respect the original intent; his footprint remains the course's defining characteristic. The club remains an enigma to some, a well-kept secret amidst the city's more celebrated layouts. While it has never hosted a major championship, it has been the site of numerous local and regional events throughout the years.
A true San Francisco institution, Gleneagles is known for its welcoming and decidedly unpretentious membership. The club’s no-frills atmosphere extends to its simple, yet beloved, halfway house fare: the famed Gleneagles "Scotch Egg" remains a staple, drawing golfers in for a taste of tradition and sustenance to fuel their back nine.
