GLEN ARVEN COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Thomasville, GA, USA
Designed by John Van Kleek, Wayne Stiles

Glen Arven Country Club, located in the verdant landscape of Thomasville, Georgia, stands as a testament to enduring Southern golfing tradition. While not a major championship venue, its heritage is interwoven with the social fabric of the region, offering a relaxed, yet challenging, experience for its members.
Originally designed in the early 20th century, the course reflects a classic parkland style, characterized by rolling hills and mature trees lining the fairways. It's a course that rewards strategic play and offers varied challenges with doglegs and blind shots, more a test of course management than sheer length, subtly favoring those who can shape the ball from right-to-left.
Over the decades, Glen Arven has remained a beloved local haven, a place where generations of families have honed their games. The club's unassuming atmosphere and commitment to Southern hospitality have cultivated a tight-knit community, known for their camaraderie on and off the course. After a round, members can often be found enjoying the club's famous fried chicken, a culinary staple and a reflection of Glen Arven's comforting, unpretentious charm.
Reviews
Just a Fun You could see the old bones in it. Some unique elevation around the Green Complexes
My home course. Great renovations to course and really improved layout. Forgiving course with unforgiving greens. Fairly open so you won’t lose many balls but when greens are up to speed, they are as pure as I’ve seen.
This place is a hidden gem with a long and storied history. Byron Nelson won here. Eisenhower decided to run for president after making it up the steep climb on 18 without losing his breath. Mason Howell, ‘25 US Am Champ, plays here as does ‘23 US Women’s Am champ. Course conditions are typically outstanding, and the layout is all around delightful. 3rd is an incredible par 3, 4th has an phenomenal green complex, 9 is another outstanding par 3, 10 is best hole on the course, a long par 4 with a devilish elevated green. I could go on. So many good holes. Membership is awesome. Most fun member guest I’ve played. Super hospitable staff.
