THE CLIFFS AT GLASSY
🇺🇸 Landrum, SC, USA
Designed by Tom Jackson
The Cliffs at Glassy occupies elevated terrain in the Blue Ridge foothills near Landrum, South Carolina, part of a collection of private communities developed by The Cliffs organization in the upstate region. Tom Jackson designed the course to work with the property's significant topography and mountain views, routing holes across ridgelines and through forested corridors characteristic of this transitional zone between piedmont and mountains. The layout takes its name from nearby Glassy Mountain, a prominent local landmark visible from various points on the course.
Jackson's design navigates considerable elevation changes, with holes that climb and descend through the rolling terrain. The routing incorporates natural rock outcroppings and mature hardwoods, and several holes offer long-range views toward the Blue Ridge escarpment. The course features a mix of hole types that respond to the land's movement, with approach shots often played to greens set at different elevations than the fairways. Water features appear selectively, typically integrated into the lower-lying portions of holes.
The Cliffs at Glassy functions as the centerpiece of a residential community that emphasizes mountain lifestyle and outdoor recreation. The club includes wellness facilities and dining venues that serve the membership, which draws from both full-time residents and those maintaining second homes in the area. The course remains private and caters primarily to members and their guests within The Cliffs network of communities.
