BLACKLEDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Hebron, CT, USA
Designed by Mark Mungeam
Gilead Highlands is one of two eighteen-hole courses at Blackledge Country Club, a public facility operated by the Town of Hebron in eastern Connecticut. Designed by Massachusetts-based architect Mark Mungeam and opened in the early 1990s, the course represents a modern approach to municipal golf, carved from rolling woodland terrain characteristic of the Connecticut River Valley region.
The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and wooded corridors, with holes playing through mature forest and across open meadow areas. Mungeam's design emphasizes strategic variety over length, incorporating natural features and requiring thoughtful course management rather than relying solely on distance. The layout includes several risk-reward opportunities where players can choose aggressive lines or safer approaches depending on conditions and skill level.
Blackledge Country Club operates as a town-owned facility that serves both local residents and visiting golfers throughout the region. The property includes its companion course, Anderson's Glen, also designed by Mungeam, giving players access to thirty-six holes in a single location. The setting provides a relatively secluded golf experience despite its municipal ownership structure, with the wooded landscape creating natural separation between holes. The facility maintains a straightforward, accessible character typical of well-maintained New England public courses, focusing on playability and conditioning rather than exclusivity.
Reviews
Layout is very meh in my opinion … by the middle of the round I was sick of hitting 200yd tee shots but if you like hitting your irons off the tee, solid track🤷🏻♂️
