HACIENDA GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 La Habra Heights, CA, USA
Designed by John Harbottle III, Max Behr
Hacienda Golf Club, a bastion of classic Southern California golf, exudes a charm rooted in its decades as a haven for a diverse and passionate membership. Carved into the rolling hills of La Habra Heights, this parkland course, born of the Golden Age, presents a traditional test; generous fairways reward bold drives, while strategically placed bunkers and subtly undulating greens force thoughtful approach shots. The routing favors a right-to-left ball flight, rewarding players who can shape their shots with precision, and its charm is more casual than many private clubs in the area.
Designed in 1920 by William F. Bell, Hacienda’s layout has stood the test of time, largely untouched by extensive modern renovations and eschewing the trends of longer and harder courses. This makes it eminently walkable and player-friendly.
While not a fixture on the professional tournament circuit, Hacienda is a course beloved by its members for its community. The club has a reputation for a laid-back atmosphere where the focus is on enjoying the game and company. A particular point of pride is their robust junior program, nurturing the next generation of golfers.
Hacienda remains a respected course in the Southern California landscape, a place where tradition and camaraderie outweigh the spotlight, making it a true golfer's club.
Reviews
Every green is seemingly protected by some sort of obstacle, whether it be a small valley or sand. Incredibly fun course, newly redone practice facility after removing their pool, great staff.
True hidden gem in the LA County. Conditions are always awesome. Some really good golf holes. Almost an east coast feel. Lacks space in some areas. Bent greens. Bunkers are very well maintained. One of my favorites around.
