FRESH MEADOW COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Lake Success, NY, USA
Designed by C. H. Alison, Stephen Kay
Fresh Meadow Country Club is a testament to a bygone era of strategic golf, its demanding layout a staple of Long Island's prestigious courses. Built in the rolling terrain of Lake Success, the course's Golden Age design, originally crafted by A.W. Tillinghast, challenges players with its classic features: tight fairways, deceptively contoured greens, and strategically placed bunkers that reward thoughtful play over sheer power. The course favors a strategic shot maker over a long ball hitter.
While the original layout bears Tillinghast's indelible mark, subtle refinements over the years have maintained its relevance to the modern game. Although Fresh Meadow has largely remained out of the professional spotlight, its members consider the course a challenging and rewarding test.
The Club has had many prominent members over the years from multiple industries, including the entertainment industry. One notable member over the years was famed comedian and actor, Jackie Gleason, who lived near the golf course and was a frequent player. Known for his flamboyant style, and love of golf, his spirit and charm can be seen in the golf course.
