FREDERICK PEAK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Valentine, NE, USA
Designed by Chris Brands, Tom Lehman

Frederick Peak isn't just a golf course; it's the heart of golf in the Nebraska Sandhills. Carved from rolling prairie land near Valentine, the course, originally designed by a local collective in the 1960s, reflects the raw, untamed beauty of the region. Its fairways, primarily buffalo grass, were thoughtfully incorporated with the natural contours.
While not designed by a named architect, Frederick Peak has gained recognition by local club makers and area golfers. The layout favors accuracy over length, with subtle doglegs and strategically placed natural bunkering demanding thoughtful club selection. The prevalent winds whistling across the open terrain adds another layer of challenge, making each round a unique experience.
Frederick Peak's allure lies not in its fame, but in its authentic Sandhills spirit. This is a place where golf is enjoyed for its purest form, camaraderie, and appreciation for the striking natural landscape. And although not known specifically for its food, after a round, many of the golfers can be seen heading to their favorite local sandwich shops and watering holes to rehash their rounds and settle any and all bets.
Reviews
Frederick Peak absolutely rules. Good luck hitting more fun golf shots on firm turf for $25 anywhere in the US. Right up there with WildHorse for best value in the state. If I didn’t live in Omaha I would build a shed on the Niobrara and play Fred Peak every day. 10/10 value 9/10 golf course. 9.5
