Fox Hill at Fox Hill Country Club

Fox Hill Country Club occupies rolling terrain in Exeter, a borough in the Wyoming Valley of northeastern Pennsylvania, near Wilkes-Barre. A.W. Tillinghast designed the course during his prolific period in the 1920s, when he was creating layouts throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The property features the kind of natural movement Tillinghast favored, with elevation changes that allow for varied hole corridors and strategic interest without extreme climbs.

The routing takes advantage of the site's topography to create a mix of uphill, downhill, and cross-slope holes. Tillinghast's characteristic bunkering style—bold, irregular shapes positioned to challenge better players while offering recovery options—remains evident in the design. The course presents a traditional parkland character, with tree-lined fairways and greens that typically feature subtle internal contours requiring careful approach play and thoughtful putting.
