FOUNTAIN HILLS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Alsip, IL, USA
Designed by Bob Lohmann

Fountain Hills Golf Club sits in Alsip, a southwest suburb of Chicago, where it serves the surrounding communities with accessible public golf. Designed by Bob Lohmann, a regional architect active in the Midwest during the latter decades of the twentieth century, the course reflects the practical design sensibilities common to daily-fee layouts in the Chicago metropolitan area. The property occupies relatively flat terrain typical of the region, with routing that incorporates water features and mature tree plantings to define holes and create strategic interest on land that lacks significant natural elevation change.
The course layout emphasizes playability for a broad range of golfers while still presenting strategic decisions around hazard placement and green complexes. Water comes into play on several holes, contributing to the "Fountain Hills" name and adding both visual appeal and risk-reward scenarios. Tree-lined fairways help separate holes and frame approach shots, while bunkers protect greens and create definition around landing areas. The design follows conventional par-70 or par-71 configurations typical of suburban Chicago courses built during this era.
As a public facility, Fountain Hills serves local golfers seeking convenient access to the game without the commitment of private club membership. The course operates within the competitive landscape of Chicago-area daily-fee golf, where numerous options exist across the sprawling metropolitan region. It provides a straightforward golf experience shaped by its suburban setting and the design principles of its era.
Reviews
Paid $10 to walk 9. Can’t beat that regardless of course conditions. That being said, bunkers didn’t look great, first par 3 had patches of donor grass that looked like it was from the rough, and tee boxes looked like hell. End of the season so can’t really blame them too much. Range was actually really nice; grass was in good condition, price for balls was really cheap, wasn’t crowded, only down side is the balls being absolutely dead Wilson staffs. Course layout was better than I expected for a 9 hole course. Ended up in 2 bunkers that had been abandoned/converted into grass bunkers. Quite the odd hazard but was actually kind of nice. Only complaint is that they were just sending out groups after they paid so I almost got stuck behind a 2some for 3:50 as the 3:30. Also super walkable. If you take a cart here, you’re just being lazy.
A great neighborhood track. Always reliable, with quality people working and playing. Very rarely do I leave this course feeling like I didn’t get my moneys worth. Will continue to play here for a while
