Nestled within the rugged Sonoran Desert landscape of Peoria, Arizona, Founders at Quintero Golf Club presents a starkly beautiful challenge, a layout deliberately sculpted to complement and contrast with its surroundings. The Rees Jones design, emblematic of a modern desert course, plays long and bold, rewarding courageous tee shots and strategic approaches. Generous fairways belie the intricate green complexes that demand exacting iron play and a deft touch with the putter. The course favors those who can manage the subtle undulations and windswept conditions typical of the region.
The Club, while not a traditional tournament venue, is known throughout the Valley for its meticulously maintained conditions and demanding layout, which provides a test even for the most accomplished players. Jones, known for his renovation work on several Open Championship venues, brought that eye for detail to Quintero, subtly shaping the land to create both visual drama and strategic interest. While many seek to tame the desert, Jones’ design invites it into the game, forcing players to reckon with its raw beauty and inherent hazards.
Founders at Quintero fosters a community of passionate golfers who appreciate a pure test of the game. It attracts players drawn to the serenity and stark beauty of the desert setting, a place where the challenge is as much mental as it is physical. Quintero is noted locally for the annual "Founders Cup" an member-guest tournament which is an annual battle that is highly sought-after in the state of Arizona.
More than just a golf course, Founders at Quintero embodies the spirit of the American Southwest - a place of challenge, reward, and enduring natural beauty. And its known to golfers who enjoy a very private and serene environment.
Reviews
its immaculate, every hole is stunning. probably the best set of par 3's you'll ever play.
Challenging and scenic.
Definitely worth the 45 minute drive away from Scottsdale. Not a house in sight, unlike all of the other courses in the area. $400 is pretty steep though as good as it was. All the par 3s felt too similar and wanted some more character on the greens. Great conditions and views for days
Quintero in Peoria, AZ should be on anyone’s list who plays golf in Arizona often. Feels like a blend of Colorado and Arizona golf. Out in the middle of nowhere and is an absolute gem. Being all the way up in the AZ mountains is so unique and different than a lot of courses out here that I’ve played. This course has so many holes where a bad tee shot makes you mad, not because you’re in trouble, but because the fairway approach is so fun you want to hit it from there. That’s the highest compliment I can give a course: fun shot after fun shot. One of my favorite new courses that I’ve played, so much fun and a great layout by Rees Jones, son of RTJ. Oh, and they deliver cookies to you during your round. An absolute treat of a day
Coming from Wisconsin, this was a wild change of pace from what I’m used to. I feel as though I’m not giving this course the most fair shake (this was the fourth and final day of a golf trip where I developed the shanks and was incredibly sunburnt) but I really enjoyed it otherwise. My only gripe was the pro shop, felt more like an airport gift shop. The bev cart did have one of the better chicken wraps I’ve had tho, would love to play here again one day.
Quintero was a great day! Conditions were decent overall. Bunkers needed a lot of work. Course was extremely challenging. I think too challenging in a lot of ways. I believe they have closed the whole course to do a whole course Reno. Hopefully opening up the course a little bit to make it more playable. Beautiful scenery and setting!
Worth the drive if you’re in Phoenix. A great set of par three’s
Not the greatest track in Phoenix area but great design and really fun
