Forrest Little at Forrest Little Golf Club

Forrest Little occupies gently rolling parkland in Cloghran, north of Dublin city and close to Dublin Airport. The course was designed by Fred Hawtree and opened in 1940, representing one of several Irish commissions by the prominent English architect whose family firm shaped golf design across Britain and Ireland throughout much of the twentieth century. The layout sits on land that was once part of a larger estate, and the mature tree-lined character reflects decades of growth since the course's establishment during the war years.

The routing makes efficient use of the property's natural contours, with fairways that move through corridors of oak, beech, and pine. Hawtree's design emphasizes strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward accurate approach play, typical of parkland courses from this era. The terrain provides enough elevation change to create variety in stance and shot selection without imposing severe climbs. Several holes play along or across subtle ridges, and the greens tend toward moderate size with enough internal movement to test putting without resorting to extreme slopes.

Forrest Little operates as a members' club and has maintained its place in Dublin's golf community for more than eight decades. The course serves as a regular venue for regional amateur competitions and has hosted various Irish championships and qualifying events over the years.
