GRAYSBURG HILLS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Chuckey, TN, USA
Designed by Edward Lawrence Packard, Rees Jones

Graysburg Hills Golf Club sits in the rolling countryside of northeastern Tennessee near Chuckey, a small community in Greene County between Johnson City and Greeneville. The facility features two eighteen-hole courses designed by Rees Jones and Edward Lawrence Packard, known here as Fodderstack and Chimney Top. The club opened in the 1990s as part of a residential development, bringing championship-caliber golf to a region better known for its Appalachian foothills and agricultural heritage than for golf tourism.
Both courses take advantage of the natural terrain, with elevation changes and wooded corridors typical of East Tennessee's landscape. Rees Jones, who built his reputation on course restoration and U.S. Open preparation, brought his strategic design principles to the project, while Packard contributed his experience in creating playable yet challenging layouts for resort and daily-fee markets. The routing moves through hardwood forests and open meadows, with views toward the surrounding hills that give the area its character.
Graysburg Hills serves primarily as a semi-private facility, accommodating both members and outside play. The dual-course setup allows for variety and helps manage traffic during peak seasons. The courses reflect the design trends of their era, with generous fairways, substantial bunkering, and greens that reward accurate approach play. The facility has hosted regional amateur events and remains a notable golf destination in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee.
