Designed by Gary Panks and opened in the late 1990s, the course occupies dramatic terrain at the base of the McDowell Mountains, where elevation changes of several hundred feet shape the routing. Panks, known for his work across the Southwest, routed the layout to take advantage of natural arroyos, rock outcroppings, and desert washes that define the property's character. The course plays through native desert landscape with saguaro cacti, ocotillo, and palo verde trees framing fairways carved from the rocky slopes. Elevation shifts are significant throughout the round, with several holes playing sharply uphill or downhill and offering expansive views across the Valley of the Sun. The routing moves through varied terrain, from elevated tee shots to approach shots played into greens set against boulder-strewn backdrops.
