OMNI BARTON CREEK RESORT & SPA
🇺🇸 Austin, TX, USA
Designed by Tom Fazio
Fazio Foothills at Omni Barton Creek, carved into the Texas Hill Country, embodies the strategic shot-making favored by its designer, Tom Fazio. This modern course, sculpted from rolling terrain punctuated by limestone outcroppings and native oak trees, presents a visually arresting and technically challenging layout. It rewards thoughtful play over brute strength, with doglegs and undulating greens demanding precise approaches and deft putting.
While not a frequent host of major championships, Fazio Foothills has proven a popular site for regional competitions and corporate outings, its challenging design and picturesque setting providing a memorable experience for golfers of all skill levels. It’s a course where local lore thrives, tales of heroic shots and unfortunate bounces echoing through the canyons.
The convivial atmosphere permeates the clubhouse, where post-round analysis and camaraderie are as much a part of the experience as the golf itself. The club is known for its hearty Texas fare, particularly the brisket sandwich, a local favorite savored by members and guests alike after tackling the demanding back nine.
Reviews
Meh. Not a huge Fazio fan to begin with but this course is my least favorite of all the Barton Creek tracks.
Least favorite of the BCCC quartet. Foothills feels the most resort-y by far. One of my favorite finishing par 5’ in golf though.
