FARMLINKS GOLF CLUB AT PURSELL FARMS
🇺🇸 Sylacauga, AL, USA
Designed by Dana Fry, Dr. Michael Hurdzan

FarmLinks at Pursell Farms, nestled in the rolling hills of Sylacauga, Alabama, serves as a living, breathing agronomic test bed disguised as a world-class golf course. Designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, the course is a modern marvel sculpted from former cotton and cattle land. It offers a playing experience unlike any other, as each hole features a different variety of turfgrass, allowing superintendents and researchers to evaluate performance in real-world conditions. Expect generous fairways that belie the subtle undulations and strategic bunkering, rewarding thoughtful approaches rather than brute force.
The spirit of innovation extends beyond the turf. FarmLinks embraces its role as a unique laboratory, hosting turfgrass professionals from around the globe who come to study and learn from the course's varied conditions. While not a fixture on professional tournament circuits, its dedication to advancing the science of golf course management makes it an invaluable asset to the industry.
Beyond its agronomic significance, FarmLinks offers a genuinely Southern hospitality. Golfers are known to gather at the clubhouse, swapping stories and enjoying traditional Southern fare. It's this blend of scientific rigor and warm camaraderie that defines the FarmLinks experience, fostering a deep appreciation for the game and the land it's played on.

Beautiful and serene. The only thing I could hear was golf carts driving, golf balls being hit, and birds chirping. Green fees are crazy high, though. Even on a slow day with dynamic pricing it will still cost you over $100 to play.
Stayed 3 nights on property in a September. The lodging and staff were amazing. Course layout was extremely fun and rewarded good shots. The fairways are wide and course was in incredible condition, but my only gripe is the rough was too long. You might be 1 foot off the fairway and it would be 50/50 whether or not you’d find your ball which really slowed down pace of play looking for balls. Bonus points for having great food and beverages. Overall, great destination for a golf trip!
Played here a number of times. The course is largely unremarkable excepting the scenic and near gimmicky downhill par 3 which you have likely seen on social media somewhere. The whole resort experience is great (hotel, shooting, etc.) and worth doing but wouldn’t make a trip just for the golf course. Have to note that the Pursell family who owns this property is awesome.
Par 3s are the highlight of this course by far. Almost all elevated tees (especially 5). Make for good views but rest of holes are pretty flat. Great southern hospitality! Worth a play once for sure. Make sure to play tips on 5!
Legendary course. Wind I play there with my buds Richard and Matt it was like a private course because we basically have it all to our selves. I had a lot of fun here and there are some really cool holes like the drop down par 3s. Here I shoot a 90 and I was really happy with that because I did not play good on that weekend golf trip until this day so it was a good end to the trip.
Must play if you ever have the chance
