FARMINGTON HILLS GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Farmington, MI, USA
Designed by Bruce Matthews III, Don Childs

Farmington Hills Golf Club sits in Farmington, Michigan, a suburb northwest of Detroit in Oakland County. The course was designed by Bruce Matthews III and Don Childs, architects who have worked on several Michigan layouts. The property occupies terrain typical of the region's glacial topography, with moderate elevation changes and mature tree cover that defines playing corridors and frames individual holes.
The routing takes advantage of the natural landforms, incorporating slopes and wooded areas into the strategic design. Fairways generally require accuracy off the tee, as the tree-lined character limits recovery options for errant shots. Greens vary in size and contour, presenting different approach challenges throughout the round. Water features appear on several holes, adding both visual interest and strategic consideration to club selection and shot placement.
Farmington Hills serves a local membership base and reflects the character of established suburban Detroit golf clubs. The facility provides a traditional country club experience with dining and social amenities alongside its golf offerings. The course sees regular member play and hosts club competitions and events throughout the Michigan golf season. Its location within the Detroit metropolitan area places it among numerous courses serving the region's active golfing community, offering a familiar parkland-style layout shaped by the designers' understanding of Michigan golf architecture.
Reviews
For a Muni in Southeast Michigan, the course is kept is decent condition. Lot of rolling hills/undulated fairways and greens, for a fair price. Course is on the shorter side, tips out around 6400. Compared to other public courses in the area, it’s one of the nicer ones.
